How virus-scanning works

Protection against email viruses involves several steps:

1. When an email is sent to your EDO Mail account it passes through a dedicated virus-scanning server.
2. If there is a document attached to the mail, that is scanned for viruses along with the message.
3. If the email is free of viruses it is sent to your mailbox immediately.
4. If a virus (or suspect virus) is detected the message and attachment are quarantined safely for analysis later.
5. The sender is warned that a virus has been detected and intercepted.
